CARLO FARRUGGIA IN
CANADA

Canada (Listeni/ˈkænədə/; French: [ka.na.dɑ])
is a country in the northern half of North America. Its ten provinces and three
territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the
Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square
miles), making it the world's second-largest country by total area and the
fourth-largest country by land area. Canada's border with the United States is
the world's longest land border.
Ottawa's Parliament Hill
Ottawa's Parliament Hill stands high above the
Ottawa River and is graced by the Neo-Gothic style Parliament buildings built
in the last half of the 19th century. The most prominent feature is the Peace
Tower that divides the House of Commons and the Senate on either side. In front
of the Parliament buildings is the Centennial Flame, lit in 1966 to commemorate
the centenary of the Canadian Confederation, and behind the buildings is a
sculpture garden. In the summer, the Changing of the Guard takes place on the
front lawn of the Houses of Parliament, weather permitting. Below Parliament
Hill, a lovely walk runs alongside the Ottawa River.
